The Lansing Longsword Guild is pleased to announce Michigan SparBQ III!

The third annual summer seminar event will focus on exploring the early and late traditions of German and Italian fencing. The core classes will be supplemented by a variety of classes from instructors around the state.
Date: August 25, 2018
Time: 9am to 6pm + BQ follows
Location: Prudden Street Gym, 727 Prudden Street, Lansing MI

This year, the class schedule will have two main tracks: Italian Historical Martial Arts and German Historical Martial Arts. Those two tracks are split between “early” examples of both, and “late” examples of both. Along with classes on basic body mechanics, tournament tips and tricks, misconceptions about women and gender in martial arts, and weapons that fall outside the main courses, SparBQ has something for fencers of every level.

This year’s instructors include:
Sean Franklin, formerly of Blood and Iron Martial Arts
Dave “Sparky” Farrel, of Ars Gladii
Kyle Randall Tansek, of the Michigan Medieval Combat Association
Katina Dunham, of Ars Gladii
David Hoornstra, of the Ann Arbor Sword Club
Brian John Ferguson, an independent fencer and researcher
Adam Franti, of the Lansing Longsword Guild
Josh Little, of Ars Gladii

We will also be holding a raffle for a number of pieces of gear and some special items…

After the event, join us down the street for the post-event barbecue for food, drinks, and talkin’ swords.
